Hooray! It’s Official!

It’s official, guys!

What’s official, you ask? That’s a great question! Lot’s of things in my life are official now. My marriage, my photography business, and my new life in Amarillo, TX. And this blog, of course. That’s a lot for one post, right? Well let’s start from the beginning.

Once upon a time, in a not-so-fabulous town in New Mexico, the most wonderful lady in all of the land was born. Wait a second…. that may be too far back. Let’s skip to the important part: high school. High school is where I fell in love with photography, and where I fell in love with my husband (even if we didn’t quite know it yet). The story of Mr. & Mrs. Nathan Parrish is actually a pretty cool one. One that is so cool, I think I will save it for it’s own post. (It has a ton of amazing pictures to go along with it)

Anyway, in high school I began taking photos because one of my classes, Digital Graphics, had a photography portion and I truly fell in love. I started taking pictures of EVERYTHING even though I rarely had a camera that actually worked, and they were all first-era digital point-and-shoot camera. We all know how well digital cameras circa 2006 worked. Regardless of the quality of the cameras, I began to learn about some of the more important aspects of photography such as composition, and angles, and such. My friends and I would frequently get together to take “professional” portraits of ourselves which served as great practice, and great marketing when other friends eventually began asking me to take actual portraits of themselves.

Eventually, I became frustrated with the level of quality control I had with my point-and-shoots, so I invested in my first DSLR, and everything changed. I was finally able to take photos that I felt were at a professional level, and I have been charging for portrait sessions ever since. So what about October 22nd at 11:37 PM makes it official? In the past year, a series of very fortunate (and official!) events has led me to have the time and freedom to finally pursue my passion:

December 2013: I graduated from Texas Tech University and got engaged to my wonderful husband. One of my engagement photos is shown below. Photo Cred: Virginia Pon

June 2014: My wonderful (then) fiancee accepted a position for a fantastic job, even though his start date was almost five months away

September 2014: I got married! Then the hubs and I moved to Amarillo, TX to start our great adventure (and for him to start his new job). Consequently, I quit my former job that took up 99.999999% of my time. All of a sudden, I had no school, and no work to worry about and voila! I finally have the time to do what I want! I’ll share one wedding photo for now, and leave the rest for it’s very own wedding post.

Cool story, right? Well I’m sure it’s way cooler to me than it is to anyone else. But hey, it’s the 21st century. What are blogs for, if not for extreme narcissism? Narcissism. That’s a hard word, yes, I had to use spell check to type it.

Anyway, my life is now official, everyone! And I can’t wait to share more with you, but for now I think it’s time I wrap it up before I bore you all!

xoxo
